Carla Davidson worked for us during the third edition of the Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival, which took place in October 2016 at the Filmhouse. Her role as an interpreter for several of the directors and actors invited was key for communication between the public and the speakers during the question and answer sessions after the films. Carla showed a high degree of professionalism and related well with the team and the actors and directors, which made our work much easier. It was an honour to have Carla as an interpreter at the Festival and we would not hesitate to contact her to work with her again in future.

In my capacity as Evaluation Manager at the Office of Evaluation of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), I commissioned Ms Carla Davidson to translate and edit the report of the Evaluation of FAO cooperation with Brazil 2002-2010 from Portuguese into English. This was a long and complex report. As usual in these circumstances, the original text is delivered at the last minute, or later than that; it is longer and more convoluted than expected; in this case writing styles differed; but the deadline for the translator was not changed! I was amazed at how professional Carla was, handing all these challenges in a very short time, asking very pertinent questions for clarification on jargon and technical terms, and all while maintaining a kind and constructive attitude. We could not have asked for a better and more timely output!

As Regional Director of Sperry Rail’s Global Business Development, translation services are of crucial importance. I (Sperry) made great use of Carla’s translation skills a few years ago, whilst we were negotiating a contract with Portuguese Railways. I was impressed both by Carla’s knowledge and understanding of the language (much of the contract referred to complex technical detail) and her willingness to help me out at short notice, with dedicated effort as the contract negotiations progressed to a successful conclusion.
